Inverclyde Elderly Forum has at present six member who are from left to right




Inverclyde Elderly Forums chair person, Nell McFadden was awarded the MBE from Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace on 10th December 2002. Nell also won a 'Provosts Equality Award' in 2007 for her work to promote the understanding of depression and reducing the stigma attached to mental illness. Nell was also presented with a 'Paul Harris Fellowship Award' from Greenock Rotary in 1999, which is only awarded to people who 'have done outstanding work in their field'. Nell was praised at the awards ceremony in London in April 2002 by the then Prime Ministers wife - Cherie Blair after winning the Quality of Life Category of Help the Aged NOJO (Not Just Older Awards) and recently Nell and Councillor Joe McIlwee have received an award for being the Older Peoples Champions of Inverclyde.

Members of our committee represent the elderly on many other committees including: Mental Health & Wellbeing,Older Peoples’ Group Scotland, Scottish Community Care Forum, Inverclyde Community Care Forum, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Inverclyde Royal Hospital Committee, Advocacy Project, Public Partnership Forum, Crime Prevention Panel, Financial Fitness Group, Arts Board, Joint Care Board, Joint Improvement Team and the Asthmatic Caring Group.

Nell and Inverclyde Elderly Forum's Committee work tirelessly for the elderly people in Inverclyde.

We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month (except July) at 2.00pm in John Gault House, Duncan Street, Greenock.
With around 50 attendees at an average meeting, we discuss committee business and other issues, followed by a cup of tea, raffle and a guest speaker.

We would be delighted to see new members and you will always be made welcome at our meetings.

There are still two founder members on the committee, Nell and Donald.
We are a very hard working, dedicated committee and with our members, have been involved in many issues of importance over the years, some involving our own Forum at local level and many involving all the other forums.














Like many other committees, we are always looking for members to come and join us in our work!
